10 Tips To Make Caregiving Easier This Summer

Summertime is the time to relax and enjoy life. Give these 10 things a try this summer to help put a smile on the face of the person you're caring for ... and you too.

1. Bring potted flowers up onto the porch or deck. Water them together and watch them grow.

2. Plant a container herb garden. Use the herbs to make delicious meals, and put some excitement back into the cooking process.

3. Make ice cream with an old fashioned ice cream machine. What's your favorite flavor?

4. Plan a picnic. There are so many options in Colorado. Head up to the mountains for the day. Head to your local park. Or simply head outside under the closest tree.

5. Slip something special into the picnic basket. How about a bottle of bubbles? Nobody can resist a smile when bubbles are floating in the air.

6. Take your picnic basket to a concert in the park. Many neighborhoods offer concert series. Or try Hudson Gardens or Botanic Gardens

7. Buy some summertime magazines. Try out a new recipe. Try one of their home decorating tips.

8. Build a summertime scrapbook. Find old pictures from the childhood days of the person you're caring for, and talk about the good ol' days.

9. Invite the grandkids over for watermelon - and a seed spitting contest.

10. Listen to an audio book outside with a glass of lemonade. Many of today's top authors create books in audio format. Choose your favorite writer, your favorite genre, and sit back and enjoy.
